The Linton Walkers

Probably the best Walking Group in Kent!
Linton has an active walking group that meets every week, almost throughout the year. The 2026 Walks Schedule has now been published, and you can download it from here, see the link at the bottom of the page. On every other Thursday morning at 11am there is a weekly walk. In addition, we have a full programme of evening walks, each Tuesday evening. See the schedule. The Thursday morning walks will start at 11am prompt from 5th February, and the Tuesday evening walks start at 6pm on 7th April. The start time will move to 7pm from 12th May. In addition to the above there will be a Grand Summer Outing, on Sunday 5th July, and we also organise the annual Linton Parish Boundary Walk. This takes place on Rogation Sunday, which in 2026 is on Sunday 10th May. Please support this walk – it is a long-standing Linton tradition, which we are working hard to keep going ... it will be starting from the Linton Church Car Park, 10.30am prompt! More details from Jerry Whitmarsh

In addition we have a longer walk on the first Sunday of each Month, weather permitting. Details of each walk are sent out in good time beforehand. If you would like to be added to the emailing list, contact Jerry using the link above. You can unsubscribe at any time, and aren't committed to any walk until you turn up!
Finally, we have an annual Walkers dinner in a local restaurant or pub.. [Tuesday 24th November 2026. More details, nearer the time]. All of our walks involve a donation of £2 per head, in aid of the Friends of Linton Church and similar local good causes. In 2025 we raised £1,006, and were able to donate money to various charities including the Friends of Linton Church, to the Church itself, to Buttercups Goat Sanctuary, and to the Tovil Repair Caf
é, amongst other beneficiaries.

The wonderful thing about these walks is how many good things they do, all at once:
– they get us out of doors into the fresh air and contribute to a healthy lifestyle
– they show us how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the world. The views across the Weald from around Linton are fabulous!
– they show us the ins and outs of our local footpaths, fields and beauty spots – places you never knew were there, perhaps only a  mile from your own home..
– there is a strong social element to the walks. Numbers vary from week to week, but we are a friendly group and there is always someone to talk to, or not as you choose.. often we end up in a pub, but at least we will have earned our drink!

Why not give it a try? Contact Jerry - or just turn up, to any walk.
Most of the walks are organised by Jerry Whitmarsh. Click on his name, to contact him by email. He is happy to provide more details or answer questions on request. For questions about the Tuesday evening walks specifically, contact Pat Nash.
